Motion sensor doorbell/annunciator solutions?

We recently moved to a bigger house with a bigger yard. Unfortunately, we have a problem that when we're in the back yard, we can't tell when we have a visitor. So, we want a loud exterior doorbell on the back of the house so we can hear it outside.

Additionally, I want a motion sensor or a trip beam that rings the doorbell when someone walks or drives up the driveway. (Which would give us that much more time to get to the front door.) The sensor could be hardwired, as I plan to run wires for a lamp post out there eventually anyway. Bonus points if the driveway sensor makes a different sound than the front door button (for example, a single 'ding' instead of 'ding-dong').

The ability to add a mailbox door sensor would be great, too. That one would need to be wireless, though.

This house was a foreclosure, and there is currently no doorbell at all, so we're starting from scratch. Can you guys suggest a doorbell system that accepts all those inputs and supports all those outputs? While I prefer to DIY, I'm also willing to just purchase an integrated system if it makes more sense.

There are driveway alarms that will sound when somone drives up or even walks up, you can set the sensitivity of it for pets.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...npage:IN+STOCK

That is one there are many if you search for driveway alarms

Thanks mae-ling, how do I integrate that with 2 more chimes and a door button?

That one may not, but there are other systems out there that will. I know business people and farmers who used that type of system.

your problem can be solved as follows:

01) We recently moved to a bigger house with a bigger yard. Unfortunately, we have a problem that when we're in the back yard, we can't tell when we have a visitor. So, we want a loud exterior doorbell on the back of the house so we can hear it outside.

actually loud exterior doorbell can not solve this problem because of power limited for this product. you can choose the doorbell which 1 outdoor button connect 2 or 3 indoor devices, it is wireless, you can take 1 indoor devices when you are in the back yard.
you can refer the product of this company: www.sanchtech.com ---wireless doorbell

Tyler.....how about wireless camera and monitor?

We got broke into last Dec....after that I installed the Lorex wireless camera.....ours came with two cameras...wireless and motion sensing....it's really pretty neat. If someone walks in the view of the camera....it beeps....starts recording and the monitor stays on that view for a time or until there is no motion. It also has sound.

The recording is to a SD card....so, it's not as large as a DVR....but it helped us catch a recycling bottle thief....(that is a fun video to watch)

What we really like is that it also has sound....it lets us keep an eye on the kids in the front when we are in the back.

Hm, thanks for the suggestions folks.

ddawg the wireless security systems almost do it, although I don't see how the doorbell button and multiple speakers can be integrated into a single system.

Andrew X850-1-1 looks like almost the perfect solution but I didn't see how to order anything from that website and I'm not sure if the motion sensor / button can trigger 2-3 different speakers?

So, I just ordered a PIR motion sensor module, a phototransistor, some RF modules and a couple of ATTiny85 microcontrollers (miniature Arduinos). A third Arduino in the house can "virtually" press the back door doorbell button using a relay whenever the ATTinys sense motion in the driveway or light in the mailbox and transmit a wireless packet. This lets me use a standard doorbell button, standard 16VAC transformer, and standard bells inside the house. Now I just need to find an outdoor bell...

You might swing by your local full service locksmith for exploration of some great existing options having to do with everything you seek including different tones, driveway sensors, loud bells or audio for the backyard and more. If you don't want them to do the install, they will get and sell you all you need and really want and probably for no more than a box store.

If it is a foreclosure, and you have not already, I would have a locksmith walk through the house anyhow. Lot's of angry people out there over foreclosures. In managing properties and for my own, my locksmith always had key codes which saved tenants lots over a site visit and me a time or two when I locked myself out as well.

I forget where I saw it, but I remember running across a wireless mailbox thing for like $20.

Tyler, yes, the motion sensor / button can trigger 2-3 different speakers(no limited actually), actually it is the exact PIR motion sensor one~ this small system is very useful.
