Is this Mold in my Garage
...and if so should I be concerned about it?

I bought the home recently, and the garage has a hose attachment on the inside to (I assume) wash the car in the winter. This is clearly some type of water splashing, but is this mold and what do I need to do about it?

It goes around the entire base of the interior of the garage.

(The garage is attached to the house. The house was built in 1980.)

I don't see mold, but the plywood has obviously been wicking up water from the floor at some time. Ideally, plywood, drywall etc., should not touch the floor for this reason.

I agree with Bill - It is unfortunate that the plywood was hung so low, especially since you have a concrete block supporting the framing. It at least is is better than the sill sitting on the slab.

You could just let it stay as long as you can stand it and it is functioning. Eventually, you can expect some mold and serious rotting in the future.

As a fix, remove the plywood and search for a more suitable material and hang it higher. If you are lucky, you will have 8" high block and not just 4" high.

I agree with them. I don't think that's mold. It's more of a water mark. I wouldn't worry as of the moment as it is still in good condition. Make sure to check on it from time to time.

I would cut it back so that you don't have to replace all of it in the future.
