MHIC licensing requirements

Anybody know if they have lightened up for those of us who only handyman work?

I e-mailed them and - while their answer was in English - it was somehow incomprehensible.

If you disturb any surface,( or some such nonsense) you need one, legally.
I won't tell.

Even stupid landscapers are "supposed" to have one

If you paint anything in MD you need one

And in VA you pay $100 for a class C license. No test, no bond, no insurance.

I can't believe MD's motives are to protect their citizens way over what VA does to protect their citizens.

In all the years I've done this only one customer wanted to see my license.

I would highly doubt protecting the citizens is the motive, shoving a corn cob where the sun don't shine would be more likely. Greed and $$$$ and politics they go hand in hand

I have NEVER had anyone one ask for my MHIC license nor my RRP licence, but you still have to have them in order to go about business in this small state legally. I got called out by the states attorny general about 25 years ago for hanging wall paper. At the time,I was led to believe you did not need one unless you were painting, wrong.
