Major screw up: Deck stain - DIY Chatroom

1st i tried to remove the old stain with 2700 PSI water pressure..didnt work. Then tried stain remover...didnt work.
Now I can see that I used the wrong stain to cover up.
Question is....is there something else I can apply over this to make my deck look like new?

Don't like the look of the semi-trans?

You could go over it with a solid stain
Solid stains basically look solid, like paint

the stuff I used looks very dull, and it shows all the spots where I couldnt get the other stain off. Looks very bad, actually.

Ah...
In that case, it's a job for a solid stain
It will leave a solid color, like paint would

I can attest to how well solid stain works. I am just finishing my fence which was a horrible hideous wreck and had some areas stained, some back to raw wood and the solid hid it all. Now it looks like one consistent colour but you can still get a sense of the grain. From experience, do not use paint as you will end up with a real maintenance mess.

Here's a shot of my new stain and the original boards. You can see the stain covered well and that was only the first coat.
