Lumber Quality
My late brother bought enough lumber to add a lean-to to his garage and never did. The lumber is app. 20 years old.
I am building hanging shelves for storage in my infinished basement and I planned to use some of these 2X4s. They are #2 grade season dried and it is unbelievable at how lumber has changed. These are straight and virtually knot free. I went through about fourty 2X4s trying to find six that were not desireable for framing and could not find any.
I cannot bring myself to use this lumber for rough shelving. I guess I will go purchase new lumber for this job.
Pay more and get less:furious:

The lumber used to be cut from nice big trees---Not the trees used for studs are little fast growing 'crop' trees--

Save that old, good stuff for the day you can use a surface planer on it----Make your self some nice furniture out of it.--Mike--
