Lever door handle problem

I'm replacing non-locking door handles with the ones that lock. I got old handles off easily but I can't figure out how to get the screwless faceplate (rosette)off. There are 2 itsy bitsy holes/slots alongside edge of plate. I tried pressing down inside these with a paperclip and also a tiny jewellers screwdriver but didn't feel anything 'give' or 'release'. I'm at the point of taking a flat tip screwdriver and trying to pry it off . Help!!

Lever door handle problem

Wow. I'm new here and was suprised after reading other threads that I had a reply already. Anyways......this just ain't my day. Got camera and it says memory is full. When I went to delete some pics it says 'file error'. So I'll describe:

Round gold plate has no screws. The 2 little holes on the plate are flush up against the door. One is square and big enough for the end of a large paper clip to fit it (not that I can depress the clip into the hole though). The other, right next to it, is about twice as big, but rectangular. The tip of smallest jewellers screwdriver will fit (can't depress here either) with room on either side of blade. The rest of plate is smooth all the way around.

Go to the Yale site and download the installation instructions.

Lever door handle problem

Danny, I got really frustrated - - - okay MAD. Decided to chance messing up door. Took big flat tip screw driver and inserted corner in that little rectangular hole. YOU WERE RIGHT - IT POPPED RIGHT OFF! I just didn't apply enough force when I tried it initially. I just couldn't figure out what the problem was since I'd diassembled and fixed the deadbolt on front door a while back. I'm all excited to put in my new locking (and prettier) handle. Thanks much Danny!
