Lets talk time capsules
When I started this tread I completely forgot about my basement demo. Dont know if this is a time capsule but I found a used condom behind the wall. Not sure of brand or time frame but definitely nasty

Lets talk time capsules
"my neighbors found a cache of 1960s Playboys when they did their renovations."
A local, older, Optometrist retired a few years back. His practice was in a very old house. He put the building up for sale, zoned commercial, and it did sell eventually. The new owners found stacks of "Playboy" magazines in the attic, all addressed to the Dr. Somehow the local District Attorney got involved, the case went to the Grand Jury, and he was "True Billed" on 122 (# of mags) counts of "Possession of ****ographic Material", and "Contributing To The Delinquency of a Minor". Owning a Playboy is not illegal, the D.A. went after him because the mags were "in" his Dr. office. According to the D.A.: This would have allowed minors to view the material. Go figure! A plea deal was reached where the Dr. had to agree not to practice medicine--didn't he just retire? And--to return his License back to the State. As he emphasized many times over: He is retired, and only wanted to go to his lake house and fish. The D.A. is now a State Court Judge, making more stupid mistakes. David |

Lets talk time capsules
I'm an historian so I enjoy these kinds of artifacts, especially those that can be dated. I doubt it was deliberately left as a time capsule, but when I remodeled my bathroom I found a matchbook (empty) from the 1940 World's Fair buried in the floor. That confirmed for us the year we'd thought the house was built.
Before closing up the walls for the remodel, which we completed in early November 2008, we stuck in the front page of a local newspaper announcing Obama's election. |
