LED Pool Bulb Voltage Question

Hey guys,

I ordered a par38 style LED multicolor pool bulb with remote on the internet to replace a halogen fixture thats white only. My pool guy says its wrong because the voltage to the fixture needs to be 12 volt and the bulb says ac 100v-250v. He says if he runs 100v to the pool that could shock someone if there is an issue. I believe him, but wouldn't this bulb that draws 8.5watts of power work on a 12 volt socket too? I'm not very confident in my pool guy...

Thanks!

If the bulb says 100-250 volts, that's what it needs. Find one that is rated for 12 volts.

Did you look at the socket? These bulbs are not interchangeable.

Yes, I have that 2 bulb halogen socket, he was going to replace it with a 12 volt par 38 style socket so this bulb would work. However, I don't think it will even though I emailed him the specs and he said it was good. I don't think he read it carefully.

find a new pool guy.

you cant run a 100-220v filament on 12v, and you CANT modify a pool lighting fixture (you said he would change out the base?)....that certainly would delist the fixture at a minimum.

if you are certain you have a 12v niche, then order the correct bulb. in any case, 12v or fiber optic are preferred for saftey.
