Larger wheels for a walker?

Hi;
My 90 year old dad just got himself a walker. It has two 5" wheels. He says that it gets "stuck" on sidewalk joints (there are lots that are uneven), and asked me whether larger wheels would not get stuck so often. I told him yes, a larger wheel would work better on uneven sidewalks, but the larger wheels would also be heavier.

I can buy 8" wheels, but they are intended for other purposes, and are much heavier than the lightweight wheels on the walker. Also, the larger wheels I have found at Home Depot have 1/2" hub, and I think the walker has 1/4" hub, so I would need some sort of sleeve or bushing. Can anyone recommend a wheel that might work? Something 6-8", but not too heavy?

Thanks

Do you mean a simple "Zimmer Frame"?
If so... I'd suggest upgrading to a 4 wheel model.

4 wheels, hand brake, seat with basket... They're a GoodThing
Not terribly expensive and commonly available
