Lamniate Countertops Cost

HI All,

I've been to several different places to get a laminate countertop priced for my bathroom. It's just a small countertop...30 x 22 inches with back and side splashes, and I'm getting quoted for $700!! Is that normal???

I'm beginning to want to just do it myself.

Also, I'm looking for that shimmery type laminate countertop and no one seems to know what I'm talkinga bout. My mother in law has it and I know it exists.

Thanks!

That's a lot. Are you talking about the Wilsonart HD? Kinda looks like a textured surface.

a prefab granite place can probably do something like this for you relatively inexpensively...

For $700 you could get a couple granite countertops that small! Laminate shouldn't cost anywhere near that much.

if you have the equipment it is very easy to DIY. Cost about $85 for everything. So for $700 you could even buy every tool needed. WE get about $35 square foot for custom laminate tops.

Yea it's really expensive and I don't know why. I've gone to home depot and other places and they are all quoting me the same price. Why do you think that is?

IT's not really textured. It just looks...shimmery, but when you touch it, it's smooth. And it's one solid color.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Nope; If you can get the stock number and mfg it would help alot. that said I still cannot fathom laminate at that price! buy granite and take your other half out to dinner with the change :}:}

We remodeled a bathroom and got a 4 ft x 2ft with a 2 inch edge countertop in StoneSheets that came with an aluminum substrate, so we just popped it in place, for $450 through our handyman. It was SO simple and its uba tuba, which I love

Sounds expensive, but it all depends. Where do you live? If you are in NYC it might be right on. If you live in Boise ID, it's way too much. So what one person thinks is too high for there area, may be a deal in your's(but it does sound spendy to me!)
