Question

Laminate backsplash has us puzzled

We are planning our approach to our kitchen redo and have been puzzling over our laminate backsplash. It curves from the countertop up to the bottom of the top cabinets. We'd like to put stone tile for the backsplash but wonder how to remove it, apart from removing the countertop as well.

This sounds like a preformed laminate counter that is all in one piece. If it is, you can't modify it for the stated purpose.
You would need to replace the top.
