Knocking though breeze block wall
Hello everybody. I am new to this diy thing. I am considering knocking through a breeze block wall from my lounge into a garage. Does anybody have any opinions on what I need to be considering. The reason for doing this is that I want to block off the one end of the garage and convert it into an office accesible only from the lounge. The garage wall actually forms part of my lounge wall as the lounge is a sort of "L" shape and the rest of the rectangle is the garage.
Any help would be appreciated. |
You need to make the wall separating the office and garage fire resistant. You need lintels supporting the block above the opening. Any doors need to be firedoors if they go into the garage. All the local specifications will be spelled out by the plans you file for the permit.
Winging this project with a friend, on the weekends, is not advisable. Ron |
