kitchen cabinet doors won't shut
I have the original builder's kitchen oak cabinets from 1990.
The hinges are exposed but I do not know why they won't close, most of them are open a bit. Can the hinge be adjusted or must one resort to use velcro or other things? |
Without a picture how would we even know what hindge you have?
|
Most times you can spring the hing and make it work better. If you can post a picture it may help.
|
It depends on the actual hinge. A picture would help!

Many of those hinges have a built in plastic spring---old age may have caused their death---
Remove a good hinge and see if it snaps closed---then your bad hinge---I think your hinged are shot---new hinges are available at a reasonable cost and are easy to change---let us know what you find--- |
mine is very similar to this.. pic coming soon

Couple of things it might be.
-Hinge could be bent. -Could be loose and needs tightening |
Have you painted the hinge?
|
There is no adjusting that style, Remove one and take it with you to any box store, There's differant off sets and screw spacing.

Have you remove a couple yet ,to test the springs?
|
Replace these hinges and your doors will stay closed.
