kerdi shower base
I would like to build a 36" x 72" shower, using the 32" x 60" Kerdi Shower Base. How to you fill in the 4" x 12" that the Kerdi is short? Do you buy the 72" x 72' and cut it???

If you are flexible on the size of the shower you could make it 42 X 72 with a 12" seat on the back and rear wall. Or you could do a 12" seat on the rear wall and a 4" seat/shelf on the back wall but a 4" seat would be useless and raising it up high enough for a shelf would make the shower seem small.

That's what I did, bought it large. Located the drain and then sawed it to size on a table saw. The drain on mine is offset slightly to miss a floor joist. It's a great system.

Mud it.

Yup, just fill it in. Place the tray so that it is centered, then mud the 6" portion on each end.
