Items are prevent door from opening...what to do?

Ok, so, I have some storage bins that are in a room. Well, they fell over and are now preventing me from being able to open the door more less than a foot. The bins are heavy, so I can slightly move them, but can't lift one with one arm. The fell in a way that they are between my door and my bed, and no matter how hard I push (although I could always try more), I can't push the bins out of the way. Also, I cannot fit through the door opening.

There are various items around the bins, so I think that maybe if I remove item by item, I may be able to move a bin a bit more, but I am not sure.

What can I do in this situation?

The door itself is hollow and definitely not an original door in my apartment. I am sure I could get a replacement door for less than a $100 bucks, but I want to avoid that at all costs. What do you recommend doing?

Find somebody real thin to squeeze in there

I would, but most of my friends are bigger, AND, because of the constant pressure of the stuff against the door, I wouldn't want to squeeze in like that.

I am sure that others have had to experience blocked doors, etc. Just wondering what they did in a similar situation. I am just wondering if anyone has experience maybe with replacing doors, etc.

I'm assuming this is a room and not a closet, closet doors swing out anyway.. I also assume there is no other way into that room. That is somewhat unusual, most rooms have more than one opening if only a window. 2nd or third floor window would be out unless there is a fire escape there.
If you can get the door open as much as a foot, you may be able to punch out the hinge pins. You will likely need someone to keep pressure on the door while the pins get punched out. Removing the door stop/molding would allow considerable more access.
Good Luck :)

Maybe you can force it open it far enough to pop the hinge pins out with a screwdriver.

thank you so much everybody!!! :) I was able to get the top hinge off with the screwdriver, and the bottom one, well, not so easy. I ended up breaking the hinge. But, I figure that I could re-hinge the door, yes? Very easily with some supplies from the local hardware store.

I am very happy for the suggestions as I wasn't sure how I was going to accomplish this. I got my arm stuck at one point, and that was not such a fun thing. :(

Now, onto redecorating and de-cluttering! :)

My problem was too much stuff in a small space, and not making time to manage it all. I have seen how bad hoarding and clutter can get, so I am working feverishly on making my home more reflective of a sanctuary and place where I can relax and recharge. :)

This incident sounds lke something that would happen to me. Glad you got in!

Little late, but I was going to suggest you try to keep the door straight vertically when you removed one of the pins to avoid just what happened. Oh well, at least there was no wodd torn out. Right??

:( I was just thinking the same thing. I usually get them both most of the way out until just finger tight and remove the top one last!
