insulation question

Has anyone used strofoam board inside with sucsess,
my problem is I have an unfinished attic, and the roof suppoirts are only 2x4 (old 110 yr's old, so they are a liuttle thicker and deeper than new construction) I just want to cover the walls, and may be panel. I know I need the air flow for the roof. if I use regular insulation Ill have to build out the studs.

Foam board is OK. You can cut and fit between the stud or apply it 4'x8' sheets to the studs. You might be better off building the rafters down another 2x2 to give you some room for R13 anyway. Not sure on the load properties as this will add to the weight of the roof. Without more snow load information it is hard to guess. Roof pitch etc.

If you hire a SPF insulation cotractor, 2.8 lb foam is nearly R 7 per inch. He could install a mesh and spray onto it, keeping our attic airspace flowing form the bottom up under the roof deck.
