I have a question about how contractors price a job like insulating a crawl space. Is it by the ft. or what? I'm looking at getting my parents house done. The house is 1300 sq. ft. I talked to a guy that gave me a price of $800 just for labor. He didn't say how he came up with the quote. Does that sound like a fair price? I'd like to diy, but not sure if I have the time.
Sounds pretty high to me. We were going to DIY insulate the log house my wife and I were building by ourselves (not just crawl space, but the whole thing). It's 1700 square feet with a 12/12 pitch cathedral ceiling. Would have entailed scaffold and a lot of climbing up and down. I got a quote from 84 Lumber, who I found out owns their own insulation company. They did the job for around $2800, which was less than I would've spent for just the materials. And they did it in one day.
