Installing an over-range microwave onto brick backsplash

I'm going to install an over-range microwave/convenction oven. The current backsplash is brick (solid, not veneer). For the vertical screws, can I use masonry screws and perhaps some epoxy in the screw hole, rather than breaking out the brick, reframing, wallboarding?

yes you can use a masonry anchor system so you don't need to tear your wall apart. Get a good anchor system for the wall and the rest will be supported by the upper cabinet, make sure the cabinet is secured good to the wall.

Thanks! Great news. And, since the granite fabricator/installer said they could adhere the granite backsplash to the brick underneath the microwave, seems like we're good to go! Thanks much.

I'd just use some plastic or lead anchors, and skip the epoxy. One day you are going to want to remove that bracket from the wall, and will curse the epoxy. These screws do not require any major withdrawel resistence, as they are basically supporting any weight in sheer, and not much of that. Some anchors, coupled with the required bolts into the upper cabinet will be more than adequate.
