How to widen 22-5/8" window frame to 23"
I want to hang new mini blinds inside one window frame. It's supposed to be a 23" wide window frame but the trim inside the window frame makes the width more like 22-5/8". The "standard" 23" mini blinds are 22-1/2" wide and don't fit... I need my window frame to be about 1/4" wider (or the blinds 1/4" narrower).
I could get custom blinds made (but don't want to) or supposedly could cut the blinds to be narrower (but don't think I would get quality results, I don't even know what kind of tools you're supposed to use to do that). What I assume is the best solution is to take down the side trim and plane each piece to be thinner by about 1/8" or 3/16". The trim is basically 5/8 x 4" stained pine boards.
But, how do I do this? I don't have appropriate tools to do it myself, but if I can find a friend with a table saw would that work? I'm also open to other solutions.
