How should I seal this?

The steel strip that used to protect the edge of my balcony has developed rust cracks and separated completely from the balcony in some places.

What can I do to seal this edge for the coming wet season?

Thanks.

Can you post a picture that shows the whole area (ie stand back to take the picture, not two feet away). The macro zoom close ups do not show what you are exactly asking about. It is like playing "Where's Waldo", when a person posts zoomed up photos, and really does not help to easily answer a question.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

That is a steel beam that supports the concrete. Just wire brush it to get off loose rust, paint with rustoleum or similar and caulk with a good polyurethane or siliconized latex caulk.
