The towel bars in my bathroom were glued on to what I think was primed drywall. One of the holders was knocked loose and it tore off the white paper so the brown paper is visible underneath. My question is how do I repair that before gluing the towel bar end back on.
Thin layers of drywall compound and a 4" wide drywall knife.
It's going to take a min. of 3 coats to get it perfect. Sand it with a dry wall med. sanding sponge, prime and paint.
Go buy a differant paper holder the scews to the wall.
Buy some GUARDZ primer made especially for these types of issues. Apply the GUARDZ to the damaged area. Allow it to dry. Apply 2 to 3 coats of joint compound to the area, sanding between coats. Feather out your patch a little bit more each time you recoat. When you're satisfied that the patch is flush with the rest of the wall, do a final sanding to make sure it is smooth. Wipe of dust, apply a drywall primer to the patch, allow to dry, then recoat with whatever paint is currently on the wall.
