How much work to remove chimney and fireplace?

Forgive me for my ignorance and lack of the correct terminology. Going to be painting my house soon. So I notice the trim on the chimney has termite damage. I thought replacing it would be easy, but it isn't. I was wondering how much work would it be to remove the whole thing, not that I'm going to, just wishful thinking. Don't really like fireplaces, especially gas ones that don't put off any heat(mine). Removed the top piece(seen in the picture) and looked down at some framing covered with stucco and has a vent pipe coming up the middle. From the roof up seems simply. But the rest I don't know what I'm facing. The slab concerns me also, as in probably not an easy job.

That's a lot of work---Roof repair--how old are your shingles?

Stucco repair---How are you with that?

Interior---drywall---is it covered with a texture coat?

Slab is easy---but filling in the missing flooring is a chore---

Outside footing? Depends on what you want to do---

How much work to remove chimney and fireplace?

Going to have to make some local calls and get some quotes.
A bare minimum of $3000.00 would be my guess.
Some things wrong if that fireplace is not putting out any heat. Is there a blower on it?
I've used one for back up heat in a 1000 sq. ft. home and it did fine.

I agree with Joe that something is not right. I know people who heat their entire homes with a single gas fireplace ...and that's away up here in the Great White North.
