Drywall contractor pricing can vary by region. It can also vary, as some people like to hire un-insured hacks that work weekends at low-ball prices.
All I can offer is that the going rate for drywall in my area ranges around $1.20 to $1.50 sf - materials included (those are also the prices we charge out).
These amounts may be affected by the amount of additional work involved (i.e.- remodeling, soffits, type of sheetrock, etc.)
That pricing is also based on the area being completely and properly framed and insulated prior to the start of the drywall. Most drywallers do not take the left-over scrap - you will have to get rid of it.
Another simple approach to get pricing: Call up 3 local Drywall Contractors and get three estimates. Also get their references. If you hire one, get their insurance information. In my area, most towns are now requiring proof of Workman's Comp Insurance on permited residential work, in order to protect the Home Owners.
