How to get rid of mold

We have a water problem in our basement, that we just can't afford to have fixed now (possible rewire of electrical is our first priority)
But the walls are getting what appear to be mold on them.
Is there a cheap way to temporarily clean this up. I know it will come back if we don't fix the water problem, but I'm looking for a temporary solution for now.
I have heard that using water and bleach is no good because it just feeds the mold..is that true?

Thanks!

How to get rid of mold

Hello and welcome to the forum

The CMHC does not recommend the use of bleach any more. Instead they recommend using unscented detergent and water. I believe the idea is that the bleach does nothing to kill mold but rather just discolour it, which leaves you with a false sense of clean.

Thank you both! Both articles were helpful.

I especially liked the step by step instructions from the CMHC...that is getting printed for sure!
