How do you locate proper location for step handrails??
I was reading my Menards flyer today and saw they had step railings all premade ready for installation. I have an OLD house,,bungalow,,with the front open porch most of the way across the house front,,,with a 54" opening and the precast steps I am using are like 48" wide. The banister of the porch stops back at the 54" mark,,so IF you attached to the top of it,,,makes it even wider. OR would you attach a post inside those side banisters and attach up-down railings to them?? Is there a "CODE" place a to where railings HAVE to be installed??
On this same note,,,,are their GOOD , BETTER, and BEST plastic railings out there?? Are they solid enough for knuckleheads so they dont break them off?? HoW do you adjust the run part?? Attach it to the posts>?? Are the post parts a green treated deal that sticks in the ground quite aways and gets covered with the plastic outside part like the mailbox posts??
Always liked the nice look of the plastic,,,or just buy wrought iron railings and paint every year??(I want DURABLE!!!) Thanks for ANY info!!-- just don--
