How do you find a building code for los angeles?

People,

In planing to reroof my flat roof, wanting to be aware of the local code for roofing . tried on line but only found a notice saying "to order your copy of the LA codes" etc etc. If a code is in the record, can it be viewed on line by someone? Tips appreciated.

How do you find a building code for los angeles?

Search CBC 2010. This is the current building code for all of California. I'm sure there are local amendments for LA County and City but this will get you started.

this was the only thing I could find, and no mention of a "membrane mineral" roll out roofing material. Just clay/concrete. (on that page, upper right, in search box, one has to type "roof" and you will see)

Do you have specific questions?

Why not just call the building inspector? I think they have various field offices that can help answer questions.

OK, guess thats a good option, just sometimes, one want to view the codes without having to get in a discussion, but hey, it may work out even better. He can answer specific needs/concerns, eh?

I can recommend a good roofer....

I just finished doing the roof on my addition....

And just so you know....if you really want to....you can do all the work yourself.
