Home Depot 1X strips just got thinner

I just got a new batch of 1X3 and 1X4 strips from Home Depot.

Normally these measure 3/4" in thickness. At least the ones I got before were all pretty consistent.

The new ones are no longer yellow pine, but white wood, and they are REALLY soft I wasn't careful and one screw I drove went all the way through.

But the thickness, the new ones are 5/8" in thickness, not 3/4" anymore! I laid them side by side and it's pretty obvious.

And that surprizes you?
What are you trying to do with them?

I don't think any of their lumber is exact or consistent. Couple weeks ago I bought 1/4 inch plywood that was actually 1/4 inch, bought what I thought was the same plywood a few weeks later and it wasn't 1/4 inch thick. Not sure if that is HD's fault or the mill's from where they get it from. Don't they say all there lumber is C grade and below? High quality lumber I'm presuming you have to get somewhere else.

But probably depends on what you are working on for it to really matter.
