Yep, repeatedly and currently, me my girlie and her youngun.

I think one of the most important things to do to maintain sanity is to do it in reasonable chunks and do it in a way that segregates the living area from the work area.

Dust containment can make a huge difference, such as attaching a vac to tools (such as sanders), and closing off any HVAC returns to keep dust from getting into the rest of the house.

Rooms that you can't really not use like the kitchen then speed, speed, speed is critical to avoid a mutiny. For these areas as others said make sure you have a solid plan, materials ready, subs locked into to a tight schedule and extra money so you don't get stalled.

Of course and I don't blame you. Afterall marriage is not a partnership, with each side having equal value.

Everything is your descision and she had better not complain. Just sit quietly and wait for the renos to be finished. And she will be grateful for all that is being done.

I hope you don't complain Mr. Fix'n when she tires of the dictatorship and you find that she has left with at least half of your net value. and the renovated house...

she will probably end up selling it after the courts award it to her, and who could blame her?? she probably doesn't like all the finishes you decreed...

Best of luck to you....

Having a wife with the patience of a saint has been my biggest asset for the last 19 years. I figure that on this entire planet there are 5 women that could put up with my nonsense and 4 of them are in a coma.

sure it is. but many partnerships are not equal. you don't know how much i wish ours was, towards the good side. if that was the case, we certainly wouldn't be living in this house. we could afford much better.

yeah, that pretty much sums it up. i do ask her opinion. and we hash things out. but the final say is mine. she wants a under counter top micro, and she will get one. even though i just bought a $500 micro 1 year ago.

no dictatorship here. and she's not going anywhere.

yeah, the courts/government are good for taking something away from someone that EARNED it. and giving it to someone who didn't .....
she will love what i do. i know it won't be what she would pick(been there done that), but she will still love it.

THANX, i need all the luck i can get.

oh. i mean no disrespect to my wife. i just say it as it is. if i did as you imply. i would be spending a lot on my money and labor doing what i don't like. and then having to live with it.

We have renovated our house 3 years ago. And yes, we still lived in there. Though its quite uncomfortable to live in there. I haven't much choice then. So I had to live int he house while theres a renovation going on.

I love home renovating,it gives me enough time to relax. It gives me a lot of energy, because I have to think of another best way to rearrange or change what's not right in our house.
