Gluing wood panel to wallpaper

I have been slowly redoing our kitchen of the last year or so. On one side we have a corner with about 24" by 20" tall backsplash that is drywall with wallpaper right now. I have some 1/4" oak faced panels left over from doing the cabinets that I want to use as the backsplash there. Would like to just cut them to fit and glue them on.

First, what type of glue or adhesive would work best here?

Second, how would I keep pressure on them while the glue dries? I can't think of a good way to push them against the wall to hold them?

Use hot glue to hold it while the regular glue cures.

Going to need to find the studs and also add some panel nails.
