I have a Genie (screw type) that was installed before I bought my house in 1993. It has stopped working. When the button is pushed, there is a black switch of some kind that clicks, but nothing moves. The motor turns freely by hand, it does not seem to be bound up at all. I did not see anything that looked like it had burned out. Is this something that can be fixed by replacing a board or something similar? If so, is it cost effective?
Sounds like the relay in the sequensor board is pulling in but thats all. The unit you have is pre IR safety. The circuit board isn't available from Genie. It might be money better spend with a new unit.
Most service calls are $45 + and the part is $65 if you can find a dealer that still has one.
A DIY unit from any Mfg starts at about $125 in the big box store.
