General question about screws/bolts

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, and I was trying to start this personal project of mine. Basically, my question is regarding how available screws/bolts/fasteners out there.

Here's what I'm trying to do, part of my project is to attach two plastic pieces together. The two pieces will be held vertically, in the same plane, or very near the same plane.

What I'm trying to do is find a way to connect the two plastic pieces so that they are fixed relative to each other. However, I also need a way to adjust the distance between them in all 3 planes. For example, maybe move the bottom piece more in front, or further apart, etc.

My hope was to find some sort of screw that has a nut as its head, so that way you can just put one screw into the nut of another and form a 'C' with 3 of these said pieces.

But does this exist?

If anyone knows anything or can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

Lol, I assure you that this is not homework. I'm trying to build my own setup where I can take pictures on a stage. The top piece will be where I mount my camera, and the bottom piece will be moveable relative to the top piece.

i know there are easier ways to make a moveable stage, but I need to have it this way for various reasons. 1) the bottom stage will have other things attached to it and 2) i don't need it to be moved many times during one session - just need to set it at some relative position for the day. i just simplified this diagram so that the unnecessary pieces won't be seen.

do you know what the name of the screws/fasteners is? i tried looking at the ciscoindustrials website, but there's a lot of stuff. thxx

I seen a lot of hardware in my time and to tell you the truth, I think you will need to find some other way then what your looking for. Why not use the "Windows Paint program" to make a complete drawing of this screw you are looking for and send it along with your email to Cisco. This is all I can recommend. Good luck.

Perhaps some aluminun channeling could be used. It has a slot that runs the full length. A round head carriage bolt with a washer then could slide the length of the slot. At the hardware stores over here they have a section that has various types of aluminum pieces. You can pop rivet them into anything you can think of. Sorry I have no pictures. Dorf Dude

I'd just like to add..If you can't find the right fastener at Spaenaur, you need to go back to the drawing board!
