Gate/door in hall
We have 2 smaller dogs, We keep them out of the bedroom area. Right now we use a simple piece of shelving wedged against a door and blocked on the other side to keep it in place.
It is about 14" high and I have no trouble steeping over it, my wife is shorter and says she would like some sort of gate. Al;so MIL is really short and older and had trouble. Thought of baby gate but then we would have to open it all the time. Thinking a 14" high board hinged on one side and a 'stick' coming up say 32" on the other with some sort of latch. Wondering about using a spring loaded hinge that would cause the door to auto shut. then would not need a latch. Or a hinge that would allow the 'gate' to swing both ways. Any thoughts appreciated. |
Why not just close the door?
|
Our house only has a cold air return in the hall, so doors stay open for air to circulate. If we close the doors then some rooms are hot and others really cold.

You can buy a baby gate that swings on a hinge both ways.
|
The doors are suppost to have a gap under the door to allow cirulation.

Baby gate - would rather have option of stepping over for my 2 daughters and I, So do not have to open all the time.
Doors are cut above the floor about 3/4" gap, but with no cold air returns in bedrooms it works better to leave doors open. |

How wide is the gate part that opens? May use a baby gate.
Daughters and I like something we can step over. |

is the one i have two of. and my mother in law has one of with a 13" extension. this ones door is 21 inches wide. her dogs don't care for it neither do ours |
the 14" board keeps them out and I and my 2 daughters can step over it, my wife would prefer the Gate. So a 14" gate with a 'stick' coming up to hip high on one side would be ok, we could step over it and she could open it.

Typically 8X16 useally do the trick ( cut the hole like 6X14 or about that size ) Merci, Marc |
Don't really like the register in the door look, also allows noise transfer easier.
