Gas Fireplace not working

Did not know what subject to put this under, so here goes. I have an RH Peterson realfyre gas log G10-24/80 01V vent free. Trying to start it up for the first time after the summer. I am able to light the pilot light and it stays lit. I am also able to light the main burner, but it does not stay lit. It may stay lighted from anywhere from 5 seconds to a minute and a half. The only thing that happened during the summer when it was off was we had a hurricane roll through and got some rain down the fireplace and I did get some water onto the log set. Not alot, but I was hoping this is not the cause of it not staying on. Thanks in advance for any help you may give.

Re: Gas Fireplace not working

Welcome to the forum kburnham.

I agree with you, I think when it was exposed to the water, the burner may have gotten rusted and corroded a bit causing an insufficient gas flow. Probably just needs to be taken apart and cleaned really good. Burner, pilot, etc.

Follow the instructions in your manual on how to do this or call the manufacturer for assistance.

Try giving it a really good cleaning and see if that helps.
