Garage Door Help

The steel pulley cord has come off one side of my garage door and now it hangs crooked and can't be shut. Is there diy fix-it for this? I don't know if i can even get the door down enough to access the cord but if anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate not having to pay a garage-door repair fee, if possible. Thanks!

Garage Door Help

get a professional to fix it, garage door springs are under alot of tension, as are the cables. There is a possibility of injury from one or the other coming loose. Not worth the pain. Joe.

Garage Door Help

Normally i would advocate the same, but I found myself in the same position last year. With a week wait to get somebody out to look at it. Due maily to my location, so I fixed it myself, because I was leaving town and I was not leaving the family with a messed up door for a week. The wife couldn't open it or close it and I didn't feel safe leaving it up. It can be done, but there is alot of risk and you need to address that first. If you want to know I can share my experience , but I'd recommend waiting for a prefessional if you can.
