Gap between ceiling and brick wall

Hello all,
I have a problem. Recently I hired someone to stripped the brick wall of paint inside my condo. But when they where finish there was an 1/2 inch gap between the ceiling and the brick wall. The person that I was dealing with said to just put a shoe molding there. I would rather not as I want it to be bare. What solutions would there be to seal up the gap? I believe 1/2 inch gap is too wide for just caulk. I would like to take care of this problem before I seal off the brick wall.

Thanks for all your help I have been searching for the answer and have not really found a solid solution yet.

Gap between ceiling and brick wall

Just get some foam backer rod.
Cut it to fit, put it in the gap and then caulk.

It's a brick wall with a mortar joint. Put mortar in the 1/2" space.
