Galley kitchen pics.

In 1985 we put in a new kitchen...white cabs and white formica counters.
At that time we moved the stove and fridge to different walls.
Then five or six years ago this May, I said to the head knot that I
want a new kitchen..."Again!" he said......and I said, "why knot!"

We have dark traditional furniture (lots of it homemade) so I wanted
shaker cabs, cause they're timeless as well as it would look better with our dark furniture in the rest of the house...
We started out with shaker and
by the time we got to the breakfast room (EATING AREA) we morphed
into arts and crafts. We took up making stained glass windows as another
hobby in 1985 (that's another story) so we incorporated stain glass in some
of our pieces.
It was easier to take new pics on my I-Pad this morning than trying to go thru my photobucket.

I'll post them here as soon as the I-Pad charges...It's completely dead.

In the mean time any one else with a DIY kitchen, please post it here,
it doesn't have to be a Galley kitchen.

ddawg, please post yours here as well.

test from my files, not to bad, I did this from my files (not photobucket)

This is from the breakfast area, opposite our kitchen table...The end cab on the right was made specifically for an under the counter freezer. The freezer
sits on the floor and can roll out to clean the floor when necessary
The right side is drawers for pots, the top drawer pulls out and the toaster
oven is operational from the pull out shelf.
The pig cabinet is a pantry and the attached cab on the left is a wine cab.
The top of the backsplash in mirror.

I'll be back as soon as I locate the litchen TV and spice cabs.

the tv cab...originally we just made the tv cab and the floor cab
under it...then I designed the spice cab and the cabinet below it...
we also moved the tv cab up in order to put in a cookbook shelf...
We did this last winter, when I told the head knot I want a spice cab
and a oil and vinegar cab, he said, "you want more cabs?"
I said, "why knot" ...The wall there on, is only 13" deep,
another challenge.

This is after we made the spice cab and before we made the the oil and vinegar cab, under the spice cab. We made these cabs, winter of 2011.
We made the table (from walnut) the base is wroth iron from our garden...
It was the head knots Grandpa's table, and was in my secret garden for years...one day I dragged it in and said, "lets make a new table."

I'll get you some more.

Thanks a heap Big Jim...Two cabs are from five years ago and two
are more recent...I do all the finishing, and of course never write
down my stain mixes...I'm just lucky that I get these to match,
(after much stressing)

I'm still looking for a tv shot...here is the angle from the galley part of the kitchen.
The wood arounf the doors is free wood...It's red oak that came from
my sons church, they were throwing away all the old oak kneelers,
so we went and made several trips to pick them up...Got the stain
to match the cabs, even though the cabs are white QS and rift sawn
oak.

I still can't find the one I'm looking for.

This is what our kitchen looked like before we moved in.....

Typical 8x18 galley kitchen...

We never even used it....with in 4 weeks of moving in....we gutted it....down to the studs....some of these pics are 11 years old.

As soon as the 2-story addition is done....part of one wall is coming out...fridge is moving to the other side...and putting in granite counter tops.

Stove? Ok....that explains why we can't cook.

As I said....those pics are a good 11 years old....we stopped all work on it (i.e., finishing the kitchen) when we realized granite would be a much better counter top material.....plus....that kitchen window is coming out....

TK....love the shade and texture of your wood....great tone....and you got the perfect granite to go with it....

LOL...I see you have a washer dryer on the end...lucky you, I have to sleph
up and down (no laundry room)

This cabinet ( top left, we just added recently...originally we had three
shelves. I hated the shelves and the clutter collected on them...So, I
talked the head knot into making another cabinet to match the other
two...fortunately they were the same size. It came out real good, and I managed again
to get a good stain match, considering they were made a few years apart. It looks so much neater now...the head knot said, "Im
so gald you're happy now." LOL...I get of a pic of the table we made,
we made that twice too...first one we did was octogan shape with glass
in the middle...(I don't know what I was thinking?) I talked him into making a
walnut one...
The last pic shows that we just made the cabinet around the ugly shelves.

the table, It's walnut, as I have already said the base was outside for years...
We made the little chairs as well...they are the same size as regular chairs,
but the low backs make them look small...My idea was to be able to seat
6 people without having to set up the dining room. The chairs lift up
and their is storage space inside... the wood on the little chairs is
oak, but I stained them walnut to match the table top...
I wanted the table and chairs and bird cage all in walnut for contrast
with the cabs...

just found a pic of the little chairs...btw one of the hardest things we ever did.
