Furnace confusion

We recently bought our first home. Great experience but within 6 mos are replacing the heater. The home was built in '94. The repair man said that the vacumes and relays were sticking. He quoted us $800.00 to repair but suggested replacing for $2500.00. I've started looking at furnaces and found many quality brands for around $1200.00 new. I am cunfused on what size I need though. I have a 2700 sqft home in Colorado Springs. The original furnace is 125000 btu. The charts i have seen recomend 108000 btu, and I read in this forum of a gentleman in Canada with the same size home needing a 65000 btu. Lots of different #'s. Does it matter if your home in Ranch or 3 story? Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

Furnace confusion

If he said nothing about a cracked heat exchanger I would get another company out to check it. I would say it could probably be repaired, and maybe cheaper than his quote, unless you are wanting to upgrade to a higher efficiency.
