Freestanding indoor fireplace

I am in the process of designing my new kitchen/dining area/living room and I am thinking of putting in a centrally located fireplace that is visible from all sides from the room. Who makes relatively small (36" x 36" or so) fireplaces that would work for this? I cannot do this project right away, but the combination of being laid off and watching the DIY Network all day makes me think and I am one of those people that HAS to get the ideas out of my head or I will do nothing but think about it all day.

Anyhow, all info is appreciated
