Forum Changes?

These threads remind me that people view forums VERY differently than I do.

Every time I come here, or any other forum, I click "new posts", get a few pages of new posts, and then "middle click" on every thread that looks interesting (so it opens in a new tab). "Mark Forums Read" (so next time I come I just get what's changed) and then go through all the tabs I opened one by one. It's taken many years of perfecting, but I decree that this is the way forums should be read

i dont like it either. Took me forever to find my control panel. But i do like the fact that now all of the text stays on one screen. You dont have those posts anymore that you have to scroll to the right for ages to read the text. Thats about the only good thing.

Me too, except middle-clicking no longer works for me on this website. The update broke it.

So... you're saying I need to switch to Chrome to use this forum? Or that I need to submit a bug report to the Firefox folks?

Hopefully neither. Are you using the newest version of Firefox?

Could be a bug with the forum. It's a pretty major redesign; I understand if people are unhappy with it, but not giving it a week or two to work out the kinks is a little... well, let's just say

Voice your opinions and wait to see if anything is done to fix / address them before you (and this isn't directed ONLY at you) threaten to leave or burn down the house of the developers.

Yes, version 21.

I rather think so, since I can still middle-click on other forums.

No, I'm betting the admins will review these comments and make adjustments.
Most of the issues seem to be browser related- IMO. So they need to adapt their software to work with the major browsers. Several have commented that the forum is not user "friendly anymore"

As someone who writes software....any many cases a lot of what you see is being driven by what the OS supports and new features being put in that are necessary to protect the site from hackers and spammers.

As a little tid bit of info...as many of you now, the newer MS Office product, specifically Word now has a new file extension....docx. When you get a chance...take one of those files and change the extension to .zip. Then open it up....That word document is actually a zipped folder with the word doc as an HTML file...and the attached dir's are the fonts and other misc..

What this means is that it's easier for a web page to display a word doc without needing a converter...

Some of you complained about issues with Firefox...I'm willing to bet your running older versions....and I suspect that some of the changes to this look were related to ActiveX components (a major source of hacking paths).

I dropped Firefox about a year ago and now use Chrome....has some minor issues...but less than IE.

So...guys...(and gals)....I'm sure you will figure it out....of course no one makes you come here....it is after all still a free country.

Are we to infer that this is some sort of official policy statement?

Of course not....I have no 'official' association with this site. I'm a plain ol' member just like you.

My statements were just my personal opinion.

I blew a gasket yesterday---but felt my way around and am feeling much better about the new look.

I'm sure Juan and John will tweak the irritating parts and we will be back to business ---

Keep up mentioning specific problems---whining is fun,but the guys need specific items to fix---Mike-----

I'm running the current version of FF, 21.0 and am having issues with CTRL+click not working.
