fixing small holes in face of hollow door

My daughter wants a mirror on her bedroom door.
I have one with a frame that I had attached to plywood cabinet style doors.
Thinking of putting it on the inside of the bedroom door.

Using plastic anchors in the door material for the screws, and foam tape behind it so it don't break.

When/if the mirror needs removed later how would I fix the 3/16" (approx.) holes.

or any better ideas? No wall space available that would work. Door is the best place in the room for it.

Is it a painted door? When I was in highschool, my friends were rough housing and a pool cue when through a door. I patched both sides with fiberglass and polyester resin and top coated with bondo. Sanded and painted and you couldn't tell. Parents never found out and it is still there today working fine

You'll soon find there's such a thin skin on that door a plastic anchor is just going to spin.
You can buy a whole new hollow core door for about $20.00 so it no big loss.

These anchors act kinda like a moly bolt. so they sandwich the door skin.

Yeah for 20-$30 I'll probably replace the door when time comes.
Have heard of using wdw & door foam to give a backing then skim over that.

jc=joint compound? Will it stay in place? figured it would just pop loose in a hole of that size with no backing in a thin door with use.

Just remember cheap hollow core doors are just going to have cardboard honeycomb for the guts. You will have nothing to anchor into once beyond the frame and will probably end up using some sort of construction adhesive or extra clips around the perimeter. Aim for something not too heavy.

Adhesive vinyl shelf paper is a good way to cover small holes in doors. Just cut a piece a bit larger that the hole and stick it on. You can get in in wood grain and different colors.
