Drywall

The ceiling in my garage is of course, drywall. I want to attach a hanging device from my ceiling to carry a load of about 50-100 lbs. Do you have any ideas? Is drywall strong enough to handle that kind of a lad?

I dont think drywall will hold anywhere near that all by itself.

I would attach a board across a couple of ceiling joits with some lag bolts or if you have access above the garage run a board across the top of the ceiling joists and drop a hanger thru the drywall.

Yep, You have to screw into the truss or block from the top. Cut a 2x8 to fit in between the trusses or joists...whichever you have.
