Driveway heaving above garage floor (pictures)

Hey guys, my house is around 6 months old and we have notices that our driveway is heaving about 1" above our garage floor (concrete breaking underneath brick work). The brick work is also pushing up against siding causing this to buckle. I have went around to a couple of the neihbors houses and thier driveways are not like this. Will the slab return to normal? Is this a warranty issue with the contractor? Thanks for any info.

Call the contractor, that is not what I would call acceptable. It is normal for a driveway to lift in the winter, but the way you are constructed has some concerns that need to be addressed.

I agree, you've got good reason to be concerned.

This is exactly why an isolation material needs to be used between frost & non-frost protected slabs/structures.

Basically, you have moisture under you concrete that is freezing. Frozen water expands and hydraulically lifts the cement. Proper drainage helps. Looks like contractor needs to be talked too.
