Door lock help!

Hi new here and looking for some help.
Does anyone know where I can buy a new lock like this? OR
Do you think I can replace it with a different type of lock?

I hope I dont have to change the door!

Also do you know a good way of securing a window from a break in?

Thanks
Any help would be appreciated!

Looks like maybe a Marks mortise lock but hard to tell from the pic. Most mortise locks have a name or emblem on the case edge but some older ones dont.

Why are you trying to replace it?

You can get different types of goof plates to replace it with a more standard lockset. I would look at a locksmith shop in the area, it probably didn't come from too far away.

Just change out the lock cylinder, it's pretty easy.

Like Bigmike said if the issue is moving in and wanting to change the keys, just replace the mortise cyllinder or take it out and have it rekeyed which is why I asked about the replacement you were looking for.

From your pic it looks like the blue/green film on the cylinder face is indicative of a new cylinder that was installed recently and the protective packing film was not peeled off. Maybe the landlord replaced it before you moved in. See if the film pulls off the face of the cylinder. Its just to protect the finish until it is installed.
