Door knob Help Needed = Cannot Seem to Remove it

I cannot remove the door knob from the door. It is so loose that it's hard to turn the knob successfully. I can't remove it though to put a new one on.

Hello Kate and welcome the best darn DIY'r site on the web.

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, and I think this is one of those times to post a picture.

Have you loosened the screws and just can't get it apart? A bit more explanation goes along way.

Mark

There only held on one of two ways.
A set screw in the handle, it there's a rectanguler shaped or round hole that you just use a tiny screw driver to push in and reliece the spring loaded catch.

could have a little slot somewhere on the ring that covers the door mechanisms, a little flat screwdriver slid into the slot can pop off the ring to give access to the inside of the handle where there may be a screw that needs tightening. the slot in the ring is right against where the metal touches the door...
