Dog door installation

We have purchased a new dog door and it's larger than our existing wall mounted one. How do we install the new door correctly? We have existing aluminum siding framed around the old dog door. Is it best to remove the siding form the wall or just cut the hole larger with the siding in place?

take a larger piece of cardboard cut the hole in it to take the new door there is your pemplate for the exsisting hole corner it (cardboard) up so you make minimal cuts to get the new one in
