diy siding over cinderblock

Is there an easier way to side over cinderblock to leave a stucco or stone look that would not require high maintenance like painting? Stucco itself looks a little intimidating to apply.

Or apply faux stone to the surface.

How big of an area do you need to cover?

Is this part of a house, fence, garage...?
