DIY heat duct
I need to install rectangular ducting in an interior wall of a house from the basement to the 2nd floor. The house has the 1'' wide slats with 3/4'' of plaster to give the wall thickness at 1''. The cavity between the studs is 14'' wide x 3 1/2'' deep. The first floor has 9' ceilings. Obviously I would like to do this with as little mess as possible but that is secondary to getting heat to our bedrooms. What would be the best way to go about putting this in the wall?

I don't know of a way without tearing out at least one bay of plaster, especially if there are fire breaks installed. It can be repaired with two layers of 1/2" drywall.
