DIY elbow and shoulder joints?
Hello everyone, nice forum! Looks like it may be just the thing I'm looking for.

I've got a little project going that involves building something that loosely resembles a very rough human-like skeleton. The problem is, I'm not sure how to do the joints. They need to be frictionless, so everything can move around.

For the elbow/knee type joints, I am thinking I could get some square profile pvc tubing, and screw on a door hinge (the narrow, triangular kind), though I'm worried that it's a bit of a fragile setup.

For the elbow-type joints, I'm completely drawing a blank, since you need the kind of motion that a fancy ball-socket would provide.

Anyone have any ideas/recommendations of what I could use for those two kinds of joints? Suggestions for how to make something fairly robust, from common parts I can get at Lowes is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch!

I've actually bought spherical rod ends before at hardware stores, but I don't think they'll have it at Lowes. It should be in the hardware section if you have like an ACO or something I think.

Otherwise, if you want something you can pick up and buy in person, maybe you can improvise with a cheap shower head?

Online you can order from McMaster-Carr.
