Do I need to do anything special to replace the door springs on my dishwasher? I see the two screws in the laminate holding it in place. Do I just unscrew them and slide the appliance out? or is there something else I need to do like turning off the water or disconnecting a hose or something? Thank you for all the help.
There should be a valve to shut the water off to the dishwasher in a readily accessible location.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to shut that valve. But, you don't need to if you turn your dish washer on manually. Some dishwashers have timers so you can turn them on automatically, but if you never use that feature, you can probably remove the door without shutting off the water.
Your dish washer will have a kick panel below the door. Remove that panel and you should be able to see the hinges, and get a good idea of how to replace them.
Your best bet would be to first find out whether you even need to pull the dish washer out to replace the door hinges. You don't with the oven doors on most stoves. Get the make and model number of your dish washer and phone up the local factory authorized service depot. If you buy the parts from them, they'll give you all the advice you need to do the job tossed in free of charge.
