Direction of Hardwood floors

I have two halls that intersect. One is horizontal and the other one is veritcal. Hall one leads to the dining room and hall two leads to the bedrooms. Is it wise to change the direction of my flow where the two halls intersect?

I have never seen a vertical floor. Normally, we call that a "wall".

Assuming you meant perpendicular instead of vertical, the general rule of thumb is to carry the long visual lines of the flooring parallel to the longest dimension of the room/hall. That is, the boards would run parallel to the longest distance, and any floors branching off would be laid parallel with that particular room or hall's long dimension.
